Archadeck of Birmingham completely tore down the old screened porch and began anew. The project even required taking down and reinstalling Hardie Plank siding to make way for the new porch. Every precaution was taken to ensure that the tear-down and rebuilding didn’t do damage to the home. We decided to utilize the entire concrete patio pad for the porch, which doubled the living space, easily combatting the first problem with the original porch. We also accomplished a much more open and airier feel by trading in the old flat ceiling for a new vaulted one. This is the kind of custom touch that our outdoor living experts can provide to each project that truly sets Archadeck of Birmingham apart from the rest.
There is nothing cookie-cutter about this screened porch. Speaking of cookies, we built a custom buffet ledge atop the railing, where the homeowners can serve food and beverage to guests or enjoy a drink or coffee or lunch break of their own! How cool is that?

Additional custom-tailored elements of this fabulous space include a knotty pine ceiling with outdoor ceiling fan and recessed lighting and a beautiful sliding barn door in place of the traditional hinged screen door. The entire porch is trimmed in pressure treated pine keeping in perfect harmony with the barn door’s design. The homeowners wish to share their space with the entire family, including their cats. We screened the porch with cat screen, so the cats can be in the space without damaging the screen. Pet-friendly outdoor living!
