Archadeck of Birmingham Transforms this N. Shelby County Backyard Space!

Pitcher of lemonade and lemons

You know that saying when life gives you lemons make lemonade? That same proverbial wisdom of optimism and can-do attitude goes into many of the outdoor living space transformations we design here at Archadeck of Birmingham!

One of our most recent projects in North Shelby County, right outside Hoover, serves as proof of this concept.

Backyard screened porch and deck

When we met with these homeowners, they had an existing shed roof porch. They wanted to increase their outdoor living space area and build upon what they already had in place instead of starting from scratch. Archadeck of Birmingham built out from their existing space and in turn, created a spacious screened porch and multi-level deck design providing plenty of additional outdoor living space!

The entire project was finished using pressure treated pine and the homeowners added in-deck lighting within the stair treads, posts, around the outside perimeter of the deck and on the porch exterior to enhance the functionality of the area at night, and to create ambiance.

Wood deck with staircase

Birmingham-area homeowners still want wood when it comes to building a deck or porch. We receive many inquiries each week about wooden decks and low-maintenance composites alike. Despite all the competition, pressure-treated wood is still the number one decking material sold today. Nearly 75% of all new decks are finished with pressure-treated lumber.

Archadeck of Birmingham specializes in designing and building outdoor living structures of various materials, including pressure-treat wood, cedar and synthetics, in all shapes and sizes. We believe in building wooden decks with top-quality pressure-treated pine. We purchase our pressure-treated pine from specialty lumber suppliers, not from home improvement stores. We use a higher grade of wood that minimizes inconsistencies like knots and warping.
